WTF Moment...Damn You, Stephanie Meyer

Okay, I just got this email from The Twilight Saga website...

Coming June 5, 2010
An Unforgettable New Novella from International Phenomenon
Stephenie Meyer

There are Two Sides to Every Story

So, I'm like, oh yeah!  It's about time Stephanie Meyers gets to the unfinished Midnight Sun.  Okay, so I'm barely reading the message, just skimming through it looking for anything remotely related to Edward or Bella.  I come up with nothing, so I go back to the top of the email, and I read.  WTF?  Who in the hell in Bree Tanner?  From Eclipse, are you sure?  If i can't remember her, she must not have been that important, and I certainly don't want to read more about her.

Okay, now I'm pissed.  Love me some Stephanie Meyer, but why the hell won't she finish Midnight Sun?  She's writing all this other BS when she should be given us Twilight junkies the fix that we need...more Edward!

Anyhoo, for those of you interested, the title is The Short Second Life of Bree Turner.  It will be a novella and a dollar from each sale will go to the Red Cross to help with relief in Haiti and other countries in need. It will release right before the Eclipse movie comes out.  Now how convenient is that?  Instant sales, huh?

The novella is suppose to happen right before Eclipse takes place or coincide with it. It's about the newborn army that Victoria makes in hopes of finally getting rid of the whiny Bella.  Bree is the vampire that the Cullens capture at the end of the battle.  Carlisle wants to keep her and teach her (like she's a pet or something, LOL) , but the Volturi has other plans. Remember, the preview of Dakota Fanning in Eclipse when she says "The Volturi don't give second chances"  Then they execute her.

Most likely it's not going to be directly related to Edward and the gang.  Seems like it'll be something that happened behind the scenes, so I don't think it will make me a hill of beans if I read it or not. No Edward, no read.

Her Vampire Husband by Michele Hauf

Title:  Her Vampire Husband
Author:  Michele Hauf
Released:  April 2010
Series:  Wicked Games, Book 3

eBook recieved FREE, courtesy of NetGalley.

Book Summary
An arranged marriage between a werewolf and a vampire.

There will be blood.

She may resist his bite, but she can't resist his charms...

Werewolf princess Blu Masterson won't allow her seductive vampire husband to consummate their marriage with his bite, marking her forever. Alone in a secluded estate with her sworn enemy, Blu curses the marriage arranged to bring their rival nations together, especially since Creed Saint-Pierre calls out to her most feral desires.

When Blu uncovers her pack's secret plot to destroy the vampire nation—and Creed—she is forced to confront her growing feelings for her sexy undead husband. Will she choose the only life she's ever known or accept his vampire bite?

My Thoughts
After reading the first chapter on Michele Hauf's website, I knew that I was going to love the story.

Creed and Blu were the main characters.  For them to be mortal enemies, I was happy to see them put their differences aside and find happiness.  I've read alot of books where the alpha male likes the female and takes what he wants (which is her) regardless of what she wants.  I was pleased that My Vampire Husband didn't take that route.

Creed is an older than dirt vampire so he's used to getting what he wants when he wants it.  He  appears to be as boring even if he is very powerful and respected by the other vamps.  He is considered to be an elder in the vampire community so naturally he's stuck up and totally full of himself.  His character was a little over the top, but as soon as he realized he could love Blu, his character became real for me.

Blu is a werewolf princess and anyone who knows their were facts knows that females are very rare.  She is the only female in their Pack so she's considered their Princess.   She's spoiled, dresses over the top, and has a knack for not doing what she's told.  I liked her from the start. She was the perfect ride or die chick.  I love a girl that knows what she wants out of life and isn't afraid to take chances to get it.  I did feel sorry for her having to marry the old guy and having to put up with the way her father and her Pack treated her.

At first, I just thought this book would just be a fun read, full of laughs.  I did not expect it to be as good as it was.  Sure there were a few parts that were boring, and seemed like they dragged on a bit more than necessary. But, there were also parts that were so good and so romantic that I  couldn't stop reading.

I am a big fan of writers that let romance  blossom slowly between their characters.  This way, the reader doesn't feel that it's forced and unbelievable. There were a lot of mushy parts, but that 's part of what I love about the romance.  The mushier, the better.

My Ratings:
Because I love paranormal romance and this book was soo romantic, I give it a 4 1/2 stars.  Michele Hauf is now one of my fav authors so I will be reading more of her work.

Kiss Me Deadly by Michele Hauf

Title:  Kiss Me Deadly
Author:  Michele Hauf
Released:  September 2007
Series:  Bewitching the Dark, Book 2

Book Summary
Death cocktail is what the vampires call a witch's blood. It's poisonous--a drop will destroy a vampire within minutes. Nikolaus Drake is the rare vampire who has survived his first taste. Now he's on the hunt for the witch who almost brought him to his demise--Ravin Crosse.
A witch who spends her nights hunting vampire tribes, Ravin has three obligations to fulfill to set her soul free. One of those obligations--crafting a love spell--twists her world upside down when Nikolaus draws the spell from her veins. Natural enemies rarely make the best bedfellows--but is it possible their intentions are really, truly the same? Can Nikolaus's tribal loyalty survive if he surrenders to desires far darker than his own?

My Thoughts
I got this ebook for FREE at barnesandnoble.com.  This is another reason why I can't wait to get my Nook.  I was just browsing the site and came across five-yes five pages of FREE ebooks.  This particular book looked interesting so I downloaded it.
I also found it on amazon.com for free, but the ratings were so bad that I almost didn't download it.

Kiss Me Deadly starts with Nickolaus Drake, a peaceful vampire leader that is killed by a misguided witch bent on destroying all vampires.  Unfortunately, Nickolaus doesn't die and is forced to feed on a friend to save his own life.  Now he's mad as hell and will stop at nothing to kill the witch responsible.

Ravin Crosse hates vampires.  Ever since she witnessed them kill her parents, she has made it her personal mission to rid the world of every last "longtooth".  Her blood alone, known as a witch's cocktail, can turn a vampire into ash.  But, as an added protection, she sells her soul to the devil, aka Himself, for "the sight" -the ability to recognize vampires and other beings by their aura.

Now, this is where it gets good.  Okay, Ravin's plan is working, but she doesn't know that Nickolaus has survived and is out to get her.  A vampire that survives being touched by a witch's blood is referred to as a phoenix.  Everybody knows that once a phoenix rises, nothing can bring them down.  So instead of killing him, she has made him one of the most dangerous creatures to walk the Earth... and she's #1 on his shit list.

In any other book, you'd expect a bloody throwdown between two deadly creatures, but instead we get....romance?

Imagine your worst enemy calling you "sweetness" and wanting to sex you up. Eeeeeew!  Exactly what Ravin thinks and no matter how hard she tries to explain that Nickolaus is under a love spell, he continues to confess his undying love for her.  He even apologizes for ripping her throat out and attempts to join her in the shower!  By now, I'm laughing my ass off because Nickolaus tries his best to win Ravin over but she is repulsed by him, being the enemy and all.  The dialogue between the two is so funny.

Eventually, Nickolaus believes that he's under a spell because he knows he should hate her, even kill her, but he can't stop loving her long enough to do either.  Raven comes around and starts to have feeling for him, but can't forget that eventually the spell will be lifted, and he'll want to kill her again.  She's just afraid that it will be sooner rather than later.

Besides the love/hate relationship between Raven and Nickolaus, there is other drama in the story. Himself is a constant thorn in Ravin's side until she gains her soul back.  He appears as the one person you love most in life.  For Ravin, that's Johnny Depp.  But when he starts appearing as Nickolaus, things start getting dangerous.

Meanwhile, Nickolaus is working overtime to keep his relationship with Ravin under wraps.  On one hand, he's disgusted that he's in love with a witch and can't stop having sex with her.  Yeah, I can see how that can be disgusting for any guy.  On the other hand, he knows that his tribe will never accept his sudden love for their enemy. To make matters worst, Truvin, the tribe's new leader and his former friend, is out to destroy Nickolaus-using Ravin.

My Rating
I give it 41/2 stars because it started out with a bang, but ended with me wanting much more. This was my first book by Michele Hauf, but certainly not my last because I was not dissappointed.  Well, I was disappointed that the sex scenes were  rated PG and totally left to the imagination.  Dammitt!

Anyhoo, I actually read this book(334 pages) in one day!  Now you know that I am the queen of book whoring and cannot keep my mind focused on one book unless it's a good read. Kiss Me Deadly was good and then some. Despite the Amazon.com reviews, I did enjoy the book.   I would recommend it because it was truly an interesting story.. and because it's free!

I WANT A NOOK!!!!

I have read soooooo many posts about how much people are loving their Nook and Kindle.  I am so jealous!  I have been to Barnes and Noble about 10 times to check out the Nook, but each time I go to purchase it, I remind myself that I'm trying to wait until my birthday.  My birthday is in May and it seems so far away!  By that time, I'll have splurge money.

For now, I'm using the FREE Ereader that Barnes and Noble offers.  I just added a blog page for so that I could share books that they allow you to lend to other readers.  I just hate that they don't let you lend all your titles.  I have about 21 ebooks (way past my money book limit) already downloaded, but can only lend six!  What gives?

Anyhoo, I love to share, so you can check out the titles I have here .  Email me or post a comment if you'd like to borrow one.

Message From A Mistress

Title:  Message From A Mistress
Author:  Niobia Bryant
Released:  March 2010
Series:  None

Book Summary:
Through good time and bad, longtime friends Jaime, Renee, Aria, and Jessa have shared just about everything.  But all hell breaks loose when Jessa texts them a shocking revelation:  she's been sharing her bed-with one of their husbands.  To make matters worse, she refuses to name which husband she's been cheating with.  And all three wives believe they have reason to worry...

Jaime wonders if her own past infidelity drove her man into Jessa's waiting arms... Renee thinks her busy career opened the door for Jessa to step in and fulfill her wifely duties...and Aria fears her competitive relationship with Jessa pushed her so-called friend to claim the ultimate prize in revenge.

The betrayed trio vow to stick together.  But before the identy of Jessa's lover is revealed, each woman's deepest secrets will be exposed for all to see and they'll need each other more than ever.

My Thoughts
Okay, this isn't my normal reading, but I couldn't pass this one up.  I love a story with messy friends and shady husbands.  This book delivered both and then some.  The story follows the friends through friendship, heartache, and painful secrets that only a friend would know.

At first, I couldn't keep up with what was going on but I still couldn't put the book down.  After a few chapters, I was hooked.  Anyone that has had a back stabbing bitch of a friend would appreciate this story.  From the first moment the ladies read the text, I was ready for them to beat her ass.  Secondly, I wanted to know which husband was double dipping.

And the husbands, wow, what a train wreck some of them were.  Jaime's husband Eric was a complete asshole.  True enough she did cheat on him, but their sex life was wack and he did nothing to try to improve it.  The way her husband found out about it and the way he reacted to it was super messy. He felt like since he was the bread winner, he could do anything he wanted and Jaime just had to take it.  I could easily see him cheating with Jessa, but from the way Jaime described their sex life, not likely.

Renee's husband Jackson was also an asshole.  What man wouldn't be proud that his wife had a successful career?  This fool was so mad that she didn't want to play homey housewife, that he allowed all kinds of distractions into their marriage. They both had their indiscretions but couldn't meet in the middle and clear the air.  He could have easily been the SOB.

Aria's husband Kingston seemed to be the only good husband out of the bunch.  Aria was the one with the shady past that she didn't bother sharing with her husband.  If he knew what type of woman he married, he'd leave her for sure.  But still, her husband was fair game.  Things that seem too good to be true, usually are.

My Rating
5 stars simply because I enjoyed all the drama.   It made me remember why I don't have a lot of girlfriends.  It also reminded me that it's always to good to keep friends close, but enemies even closer.  I would definately recommend this book.  The only part I didn't like is that if left me saying, WTF!  There will be a part two, and hopefully two beatdowns:  Jessa's and the two timing hubbie!

Yay!

I have been working with my blog layout for a week trying to change it into a three column blog.  I have finally messed up and gotten it right!  It's still not the exact way the way I want it, but it will work.  Then, I got hung up on how to unzip the template and apply it to the blog, but I finally figured it out too!  I am not a techie person, but I do what I can (patting myself on the back).  Comments please!! Let me know what you think.

Delicious by Shayla Black

Title: Delicious
Author:  Shayla Black
Released:  March 2, 2010
Series:  Wicked Lovers, Book 3

Book Summary:
He can't control his desire.

Luc Traverson’s entire future is planned out—but there is one very sexy obstacle in his path: Alyssa Devereaux . She’s a former exotic dancer turned strip club owner and restaurateur. Recently, Alyssa and Luc shared one night of wild abandon that left Luc terrified by his loss of self-control—and Alyssa desperate for more.
And that's exactly the way she wants it.

Fulfilling a promise, Luc is the guest chef for Alyssa’s restaurant debut. The sight of her makes Luc wild, so how can he survive a week without letting loose and ravaging her—especially when she’s begging for it? Luc’s desire for her explodes when he realizes he isn’t the only man desperate to have her. But one of the others is deadly. And that’s not the end of Alyssa’s secrets…which are as dark and mysterious and enticing as her fantasies.

 My Thoughts
Whoever said you can't make a hoe into a housewife has obviously never met Alyssa.  She had finally retired her stripper pole and in the process of being happy.  Despite all the tragedies in her life she managed to educate herself and own two successful businesses. No spoilers here, but I will say that this chick had an abundance of shit thrown on her.  And to top it all off, she fell in love with a jack ass who  thought she  was nothing more than  a pretty fu*k buddy.

Luc is the object of Alyssa's affection, or should I say obsession.  While he pretends that they are just friends with benefits, sadly his cock knows better.    No one entices him like Alyssa.

I felt a little sorry for Luc in Decadent when he didn't get his own girl.  I tried to look the other way when he stabbed his cousin, Deke,  in the back countless times and tried to end up with the girl whether she loved him or not.  I tried so hard to see him as as a nice guy that deserved a HEA (happy ever after).  But, turned out that when I labeled him "jackass", I was correct.

Luc knew that Alyssa was feeling him a little too much. She made no secret about and went out of her way to show him that she was a mindless bimbo.  Despite her efforts,  all he could  see was  her inner stripper and how easy took off her clothes for him.

I thought the saying was correct that a man wanted a lady in the street and a freak in the bedroom.  Alyssa was all that, but it was the more part that Luc was afraid of.  Personally, I thought that he was highly intimidated by her accomplishments and that's  for most controlling men

If you have to remind yourself that you want a Boring Betty, then most likely it's a lie.  Who in the hell did he think he was fooling?  As if his ideal woman would feed his six hour (yes, six hour) sexscapes.  Luc would turn out any conservative woman had sex with. She might start out wearing  her sensible shoes, but after a night with Mr Insatiable, she'd never wear panties or take off the F*ck Me Shoes!

I loved it when they finally got together.  On one hand, I was rooting for them.  But towards the end, I really wanted her to wash her hands of his pansy ass.  Her bodyguard, Tyler, would have made a much better man for her.  But as they say, what's romance without the drama?

My Rating:
5 Stars
Seriously, did you even have to ask?  Everything that Shayla writes is five star to me.  I was warned that this book would have me fanning myself, and boy did it ever!  Shayla Black is on fire!  Everything that she writes is off the chain!  The story lines are filled with drama, and the romance will make you fall in love, and the sex scenes are hotter than hot.  As far as I'm concerned, she is the queen of erotica!

Not everyone is in love with Twilight

I was just checking out new posts from my fav blogs when I ran across a pix at Reading Amidst the Chaos and couldn't help but to laugh.    Check out the other pix from Twilight Sucks

Then, watch this and I promise you will have tears in your eyes!

PS, I still love you, Edward.  Shiny parts and all!  Sorry, but Eric could kick your ass!
Love me some Eric and Pam.  "Can I kick him?"  LOL!   I can't wait for the new season of True Blood.

Pleasure Of A Dark Prince by Kresley Cole

Title:  Pleasure Of A Dark Prince
Author:  Kresley Cole
Released:  February, 2010
Series:  Immortals After Dark, Book 9

Book Summary
A DANGEROUS BEAUTY
Lucia the Huntress: as mysterious as she is exquisite, she harbors secrets that threaten to destroy her—and those she loves.
AN UNCONTROLLABLE NEED
Garreth MacRieve, Prince of the Lykae: the brutal Highland warrior who burns to finally claim this maddeningly sensual creature as his own.
LEAD TO A PLEASURE SO WICKED. . . .
From the shadows, Garreth has long watched over Lucia. Now, the only way to keep the proud huntress safe from harm is to convince her to accept him as her guardian. To do this, Garreth will ruthlessly exploit Lucia’s greatest weakness—her wanton desire for him. . . .

My thoughts
Another great love story from Kresley Cole.  I love all of her Immortals After Dark books so this one was no different.

Garreth and Lucia were a great love match from beginning to end.  They made such a great kick ass team.  I enjoyed all the parts where Lucia tried to avoid any of his advances in fear that she would give up her vow of celibacy and her archery skills.  I can image how hard-no pun intended- he made it for her to keep telling him no.

Garreth started out as an over bearing and over protective mate, but soon learned that to keep his woman, he'd have to be patient and let her come to him.  If only all males would learn that little tidbit!  Garrett learned that and still had fun winning over his lady love.  Instead of being put off by her fiesty ways, he enjoyed the chase that Lucia proved.   I guess that's what I loved about the story.  If it's meant to be, then against all odds, love will prevail.

And I can't forget those crazy Valkyrie!  They are, hands down, the best part of the series.  You never know what they will say or do, but it's always funny as hell!

My rating
5 stars
I would definitely recommend this book.  Kresley Cole has a winning series that keeps getting better with each new story she adds to the series.

The Twilight Saga Continues!!!

The new trailer for Eclipse has been released! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! I will be first in line for this one too. I am so excited to be reuniting with my first vampire love (pushing Bella's whiny ass out of the way)! Oh, Edward, how I have missed you! XOXO!

I have read so books and fell in love with so many vamps, but no one can take his place. Even though he has remained PG (damn you Stephanie Meyers)for all of his 100 plus years, that has not stopped me from having R rated fantasies about him.

(Sigh) I remember staying up all night trying to get through the next chapter before I fell asleep. Good times, good times. I think I'll probably go back and read all four books before the movie comes out.

Anyhoo, the movie is supposed to be released June 30. So, if you haven't read the books, please do. These very books turned me on to paranormal romance books. That's so cheesy, right? TEAM EDWARD!! Sorry Jacob, you're fine, but you are just too young for me to be drooling over (I still do, but don't tell anybody!)

Everlasting Kiss by Amanda Ashley

Three and 1/2 stars

Book Summary

Desire Never Dies

Daisy O'Donnell doesn't get the attraction some women feel for vampires. She likes her men with a heartbeat. And she's just met one who's full of life: Erik Delacourt, the unreasonably sexy man she keeps meeting at a popular L.A. nightclub called the Crypt. She barely knows him, but there's no resisting the connection she feels

There's one important detail Erik hasn't gotten around to telling her yet. He's a powerful vampire out to hunt the Blood Thief who is draining young vampires all over the city—and who has just raised the stakes by destroying one of Erik's friends. To Erik, Daisy is a bright spot of innocence in a world of darkness and menace. He'll do anything—even lie to her—to keep her safe and pure.

If only he knew that Daisy has something of her own to hide

I was really psyched to read this book because it had been in my TBR file for a minute and it was getting great reviews. I liked the story but was not really in love with it. I thought it would be one of those super good books that you just can't put down, but I found it very easy to put it down and wait for the ending

Despite my attitude, the book was pretty good. For me, it was just missing that fire that I love when I'm reading a romance novel. For a vampire, Erik was a little too laid back for me. He was one of those easily forgettable vamps.

At first, Daisy appeared to be the typical needy female that felt her world was not complete without her dark knight. Unlike the others, she did have a little spunk about herself. I didn't buy the bit about her being the Blood Thief because it just didn't fit. I could see her selling or marketing it, but not getting the goods herself. I saw the whole getting caught scene coming a mile away. It was kinda funny when Erik decided to keep her when she broke into his house to steal his blood. I loved the scene where she trashed his house and he made her clean it up!

To me, their romance was a little boring. It had no real spark or smoking flames. It wasn't the typical hot and heavy relationship between a vampire and his lady love that I'm used to. It was more of a rated PG version.

The only highlights that keep me reading the book were her brother Alex and Erik's best friend, Rhys. Alex was an over protective brother but he reminded me of Jason from True Blood. Not sure why, but that's who came to mind each time I read about Alex.

Rhys was the entertainment. If he does have his own story, I will be reading it. Even though he wasn't in the book much, I found myself wanting to know more about him.

This was my first book by Amanda Ashley, so I'll be checking her out more. This story didn't have me raving, but I'm sure she's got tons more that will. We'll see....
