But as D.D. delves deeper in to the details of Charlie’s case, she begins to question the young woman’s story. Because Charlie can now outfight and outrun anyone she meets and D.D.’s instinct is that she’s hiding a secret. A secret so explosive that Charlie herself may turn out to be the biggest danger of all…

…BUT THE SON OF A BITCH HAS GOT TO CATCH ME FIRST.

My Thoughts
This is my first time reading something by this author and let me just say that I was impressed. I didn’t know that it was a series, I just picked it up because I heard it was awesome.  It was.

I love a good mystery and this book kept me thoroughly confused and guessing until the very end.  The plot was twisted and not the norm.  The one thing that drew me to this book was watching the police trying to crack the would be murder along with trying to string together a connection to other murders of the main character’s best friends.  The author did a great job of keeping me in suspense and making me want to turn the pages and find out WTF is going on.

Charlie was such a creepy character.  I wanted to like her and feel sorry for her, but I honestly thought she was just plain crazy.  I couldn’t tell if she was the victim or a cold blooded killer with a messed up childhood.  I loved D.D., I thought she was a great detective but I just wished she had stood up to her parents.  I thought she was handling her life well considering that she had just had a baby in the later stages of her life.  I love reading about strong women doing their thing.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and would recommend it.  The author impressed me so much that I will be looking into other books in this series.

This one stands out because of the weird (in a good way) premise and atypical characters. I hope to read it.
