Book Blurb
It’s vampire politics as usual around the town of Bon Temps, but never before have they hit so close to Sookie’s heart…

Growing up with telepathic abilities, Sookie Stackhouse realized early on there were things she’d rather not know. And now that she’s an adult, she also realizes that some things she knows about, she’d rather not see—like Eric Northman feeding off another woman. A younger one.

There’s a thing or two she’d like to say about that, but she has to keep quiet—Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), is in town. It’s the worst possible time for a human body to show up in Eric’s front yard—especially
the body of the woman whose blood he just drank.

Now, it’s up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl’s fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who’s set out to make Sookie's world come crashing down

Luv It Line:
“We came to wish you a happy day,” Eric said.  “And I suppose, as usual, Bill will want to express his undying love that surpasses my love, as he’ll tell you-and Pam will want to say something sarcastic and nearly painful, while reminding you that she loves you, too.”

My Thoughts
Okay I have to admit that I am not as crazy about this series as I use to be.  After so many books, I felt like the old Bon Temps gang had lost their backwoods excitement.  They just became…blah.  To me, it seemed like Ms. Harris had lost her way and was just cranking out books just for the hell of it.  But, as a fan of the books and the TV show, I have continued to read each book because it has always been one of my guilty pleasures. So of course I had to read it.

Lucky for me Deadlocked did not bore me to tears.  Sure it had that same ole “day in the life of crazy Sookie” but that’s what I have always loved about it.  The story wasn’t fast paced but laid back and full of the old Sookie that I loved.  The story also threw in a lot of characters that hadn’t been on the scene in awhile.  It also conveniently tided up a lot of loose storylines that were just left hangin in the country breeze.  Actually they were tied up a bit too tidy for me, but I was just so happy to be enjoying the story for a change that I didn’t mind. I had also heard that there are only a few more books left, but I’m glad that the storylines and certain issues were dealt with.

The only thing that bothered me about this book was my feelings towards her vampire men.  Now you all know that I’ve hated boring Bill from the jump and just wished he’d either go stake himself or just walk into the sun.  Although I would hate to see Sookie back with him,I am finding that he is likable.  He has redeemed himself by becoming a real good friend.  At times, I admire his determination to try to worm his way back into her heart every chance he gets, but love the fact that Sookie’s smart enough to keep him at arm’s length.  Go Sookie!

Eric has always been my favorite.  Even though he’s a conniving arrogant asshole, he makes being bad look so damn good!  Well, times have changed.  He’s still the sexiest Viking I know (LOL) but he’s lost his…his…something.  He and Sookie use to be one of my favorite couples.  Lately, he has just been getting on my nerves.  He is so wrapped up in vampire politics that he neglects Sookie.  And in this book he has lost his balls and won’t stand up to the vampires trying to ruin him.  My love for him has been totally lost…

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and recommend that Sookie fans read it.  I also give Ms Harris props for reaching back and giving us the old Sookie minus all that vampire politics.    And sure the closure of certain storylines were needed because the series is coming to an end, but as we all know, nothing in Bon Temps is ever as it appears.  I am looking forward to the next book and will continue to be a fan to the end.  Hopefully, it won’t be too soon.

I need to catch up on these books -- big time. The last one I was reading was the one with the tiger on the cover. (Forgot the actual title.. Slipping my mind at the moment.) Love these books, though! :)

These are starting to run together to me. I can't even remember what happened in the last one. I will finish this series especially since I know that it is coming to an end. I just wish they weren't so... predictable.
