Review: Tempting The Enemy By Dee Tenorio

Title:  Tempting The Enemy
Author:  Dee Tenorio
Series: None
Published:  June 14, 2010
Genre:  Paranormal Romance
How I Got It:  ARC ebook from Net Galley

Book Summary
The man of her dreams...or her worst nightmare. Only one can win her soul.

Detective Pale Rysen, an Alpha, is determined to secretly rebuild the Wolf packs from the ashes of genocide. So when a killer starts picking off young females looking for sanctuary, it’s his job to protect them. Forced to work with a hated enemy, he fears his cover is about to be blown.

Jade-Scarlet’s membership in the powerful Order of the Sibile has always been controversial. A half-wolf, Jade’s unstable psychic powers are a constant disappointment to her mercenary handlers. When her oracle commands her to work with Pale, Jade sets out to prove herself...even if it means challenging the enigmatic shifter.

Yet Pale triggers more than her curiosity. He sends her into Heat, which could mean losing control of her gifts—something she can’t allow. As the number of victims rise, so does the danger. A murderous darkness wants them both dead. But even if they stop the killer, how long can they fight each other?

My Thoughts
This was my first read by Dee Tenorio and I was pleasantly surprised with it. If I have to chose one thing that I like about this book, it would be Pale.

Pale is a true alpha male.  I loved the fact that he acted the part, but didn't broadcast it to everyone and expect them to bow down to him.  And while you could tell that his temper was always thin as wind, he always managed to keep himself in check.  He especially kept himself together when dealing with his mate, Jade.

Jade was a likeable character.  She was a strong woman and could hold her own if she needed to.  She did have periods where I wanted to smack her.  I mean who complains when they've got someone as hot as Pale all but drooling over them?  No one.

The fact that those two were made for each other is an understatement.  They are both from different walks of life, but they still seemed to fit together perfectly as if nothing else mattered.

At times it was so frustrating to see them fight their attraction tooth and nail, but in the end, they more than made up for it.

I also liked the mystery that was presented in this book.  The killer's identity was a wonderful twist.  I thought I saw the killer' identity a mile away, but was totally wrong.  I love it when an author keeps me guessing.

My Rating
Tempting The Enemy is a good quick read.  If you love Alpha males, please don't miss this one.  I give it three flowers of love because I wanted more!

Her Vampire Husband by Michele Hauf

Title:  Her Vampire Husband
Author:  Michele Hauf
Released:  April 2010
Series:  Wicked Games, Book 3

eBook recieved FREE, courtesy of NetGalley.

Book Summary
An arranged marriage between a werewolf and a vampire.

There will be blood.

She may resist his bite, but she can't resist his charms...

Werewolf princess Blu Masterson won't allow her seductive vampire husband to consummate their marriage with his bite, marking her forever. Alone in a secluded estate with her sworn enemy, Blu curses the marriage arranged to bring their rival nations together, especially since Creed Saint-Pierre calls out to her most feral desires.

When Blu uncovers her pack's secret plot to destroy the vampire nation—and Creed—she is forced to confront her growing feelings for her sexy undead husband. Will she choose the only life she's ever known or accept his vampire bite?

My Thoughts
After reading the first chapter on Michele Hauf's website, I knew that I was going to love the story.

Creed and Blu were the main characters.  For them to be mortal enemies, I was happy to see them put their differences aside and find happiness.  I've read alot of books where the alpha male likes the female and takes what he wants (which is her) regardless of what she wants.  I was pleased that My Vampire Husband didn't take that route.

Creed is an older than dirt vampire so he's used to getting what he wants when he wants it.  He  appears to be as boring even if he is very powerful and respected by the other vamps.  He is considered to be an elder in the vampire community so naturally he's stuck up and totally full of himself.  His character was a little over the top, but as soon as he realized he could love Blu, his character became real for me.

Blu is a werewolf princess and anyone who knows their were facts knows that females are very rare.  She is the only female in their Pack so she's considered their Princess.   She's spoiled, dresses over the top, and has a knack for not doing what she's told.  I liked her from the start. She was the perfect ride or die chick.  I love a girl that knows what she wants out of life and isn't afraid to take chances to get it.  I did feel sorry for her having to marry the old guy and having to put up with the way her father and her Pack treated her.

At first, I just thought this book would just be a fun read, full of laughs.  I did not expect it to be as good as it was.  Sure there were a few parts that were boring, and seemed like they dragged on a bit more than necessary. But, there were also parts that were so good and so romantic that I  couldn't stop reading.

I am a big fan of writers that let romance  blossom slowly between their characters.  This way, the reader doesn't feel that it's forced and unbelievable. There were a lot of mushy parts, but that 's part of what I love about the romance.  The mushier, the better.

My Ratings:
Because I love paranormal romance and this book was soo romantic, I give it a 4 1/2 stars.  Michele Hauf is now one of my fav authors so I will be reading more of her work.

Pleasure Of A Dark Prince by Kresley Cole

Title:  Pleasure Of A Dark Prince
Author:  Kresley Cole
Released:  February, 2010
Series:  Immortals After Dark, Book 9

Book Summary
A DANGEROUS BEAUTY
Lucia the Huntress: as mysterious as she is exquisite, she harbors secrets that threaten to destroy her—and those she loves.
AN UNCONTROLLABLE NEED
Garreth MacRieve, Prince of the Lykae: the brutal Highland warrior who burns to finally claim this maddeningly sensual creature as his own.
LEAD TO A PLEASURE SO WICKED. . . .
From the shadows, Garreth has long watched over Lucia. Now, the only way to keep the proud huntress safe from harm is to convince her to accept him as her guardian. To do this, Garreth will ruthlessly exploit Lucia’s greatest weakness—her wanton desire for him. . . .

My thoughts
Another great love story from Kresley Cole.  I love all of her Immortals After Dark books so this one was no different.

Garreth and Lucia were a great love match from beginning to end.  They made such a great kick ass team.  I enjoyed all the parts where Lucia tried to avoid any of his advances in fear that she would give up her vow of celibacy and her archery skills.  I can image how hard-no pun intended- he made it for her to keep telling him no.

Garreth started out as an over bearing and over protective mate, but soon learned that to keep his woman, he'd have to be patient and let her come to him.  If only all males would learn that little tidbit!  Garrett learned that and still had fun winning over his lady love.  Instead of being put off by her fiesty ways, he enjoyed the chase that Lucia proved.   I guess that's what I loved about the story.  If it's meant to be, then against all odds, love will prevail.

And I can't forget those crazy Valkyrie!  They are, hands down, the best part of the series.  You never know what they will say or do, but it's always funny as hell!

My rating
5 stars
I would definitely recommend this book.  Kresley Cole has a winning series that keeps getting better with each new story she adds to the series.
