Wishlist Wednesday

Clearly, I don't need anymore books, but I can certainly want more.  Here are a few that I'd love to have simply because they look HOT!

 Everything Changes By Megan Hart

In Tempted, Anne gave in to her passion for both her husband, James, and his friend, Alex. Now it’s time for Alex’s side of the story…

When Jamie tells Alex he wants him to sleep with his wife, Alex thinks it will only lead to trouble. Sure, Alex thinks Anne is hot and they’ve talked about sharing a woman before, but that was a long time ago. Before Jamie knew what Alex really wanted.
Still, Alex can’t resist the pleasure of being with Anne– and with Jamie….

Side Note:
Yeah, I did say that I'm weary of the M/M action, but after reading Megan Hart's Naked (will post review in a bit), I really wanted to know what all the fuss is about with this hot piece of ass named Alex.  I wanted to read Tempted, but didn't want to pay $9.99 for an old ass book, so when I saw this for $2.39, jack pot.  And it's told from the male point of view so it shouldn't be all whiny, but more male sluttiness.

Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage by Jennifer Ashley

Six years ago, eighteen-year-old Lady Isabella Scranton scandalized all of London by eloping the night of her come-out ball with the notorious rake, Lord Mac Mackenzie. After three turbulent years of marriage, she scandalized London once again--this time by leaving him.

Now the reformed Mac has returned, and he wants one thing: Isabella back in his life, his house, his bed. He'll do anything he has to, play any game, as long as he gets her back. Isabella resists, but when she agrees to pose for erotic paintings he's been working on, she realizes her body has never stopped craving her husband’s very skilled touch. Mac is determined to show Isabella that he's a changed man, but three years without her has only increased his hunger for her.

When an ingenious forger with designs on Mac's paintings, and Isabella herself, comes dangerously near, Mac sets himself up as Isabella’s protector and vows to never leave her side, whether his independent and proud lady likes it or not.

Insatiable by Lauren Dane

Desire is the most dangerous sensation of all.

The dangerous mission to smuggle her out of Imperial Territory falls to Daniel Haws and his team, the ultra secret Phantom Corps. This elite squad of the Federation Military is the only one trusted and skilled enough to remove her from under the watchful eye of her father, the Supreme Commander of the Imperial ‘Verses.
Carina is used to wearing a mask. Her father and his men think her little more than a pretty prize to be won by a man more ruthless than the rest. When he announces his intention to marry her to one of his henchmen, a man known for his cruelty, Carina knows she has to move as soon as possible to get out. But getting secret information to the Federation has served her well for years and she appeals to them for help.
She expected rescue from a man who’d been her enemy. But she wasn’t prepared for just how intense her attraction to Daniel Haws would be. Born as adversaries into different ranks, and on the run for their lives, they now need each other to survive–by holding on to the only thing they have in common: a growing desire that is dangerous, irresistible, and insatiable…

Touch of Surrender by Rhyannon Byrd

Title:  Touch Of Surrender
Author:  Rhyannon Byrd
Released:  April 27, 2010
Series:  Primal Instinct, Book 5
How I Got It:  received ebook from Net Galley to review

Book Summary:
With his auburn hair and lean build, Kierland Scott looks more manly than lycan. But his wolf instincts are aroused by the gray-eyed Morgan Cantrell. Not because of her beauty, but because of her long-ago betrayal, a fateful choice that made their love impossible.
Now, however, the two Watchmen must team up, leaving the placid Lake Country for the forests of Scandinavia. To rescue Kierland’s brother, they must track a vampire—and use their combined shape-shifting sensitivities in a battle that will take them beyond death. As the two learn to seek together, they begin to understand the history that has driven them apart. But they will have to overcome death itself, if their shared passion is to have a chance.

My Thoughts
I've had this ARC for a while and never got around to reading it. Don't worry, I am kicking myself because this book should have been at the top of my TBR pile. It's hot, steamy, and has my favorite type of shifter in it, the oh so hot lycan.

After starting to read Touch of Surrender, I realize that I didn't know who the heck all the characters were or why everyone was so angry with each other.

Once again, I have picked up a fabulous book that is already in the middle of an ongoing series. And again, I've made a side note to myself to be about my biz and commit to reading a series in order.  I just couldn't wait any longer on this one, so I had to start reading it.

Morgan is a shifter soldier and more than capable of handling herself in any type of dangerous situation. She's part of an elite team known as Watchmen and on the verge of a war with vampires.

A decade ago, young Morgan fell in love with Kierland, her instructor, and hoped he felt the same for her. A series of tragic events and unrequited love sent Morgan running into the arms of Kierland's worst enemy. After Kierland found out that Morgan was involved with the vamp Ashe, his anger and bitterness towards Morgan became so unbearable that they could no longer be in the same room together.

Kierland is a dangerous lycan  and not meant to be played with, so when Morgan walks back into his life, he knows that he has no patience for her. Even though his inner wolf has always wanted her, he can't help but feel betrayed by her long ago actions. The news of his missing brother doesn't help matters especially when Morgan reveals that she is the only one that can find him.

These two working so closely together had me totally engrossed in this book. I was totally annoyed that they kept trying to pretend that nothing was between them when everyone around them could clearly see the attraction.

Even after they had hot steamy sex, they still tried to pretend like it didn't mean anything. I'm still trying to figure out how one goes about screwing someone out of their system?  Now that's something I'd love to try.  Ya know, just for research purposes, oh course.

My Rating
I give Touch of Surrender 4.5 stars. Despite the characters stupidity, I loved the book and loved their romance. Sometimes you've got to go through things before things actually work out. These two went through hell and high water so I felt like they did belong together.  And I so love a HEA!

Manifest by Artist Arthur

Title:  Manifest
Author:  Artist Arthur
Released:  August 1, 2010
Series: Mystyx, Book 1
How I Got It:  received ebook from Net Galley for review

Book Summary:
When fifteen-year-old Krystal Bentley moves to Lincoln, Connecticut, her mom's hometown, she assumes her biggest drama will be adjusting to the burbs after living in New York City.
But Lincoln is nothing like Krystal imagined. The weirdness begins when Ricky Watson starts confiding in her. He's cute, funny, a good listener-and everything she'd ever want-except that he was killed a year ago. Krystal's ghost-whispering talents soon lead other "freaks" to her door-Sasha, a rich girl who can literally disappear, and Jake, who moves objects with his mind. All three share a distinctive birthmark in the shape of an M and, fittingly call themselves the Misfits. They set out to learn what really happened to Ricky, only to realize that they aren't the only ones with mysterious powers. But if Krystal succeeds in finding out the truth about Ricky's death, will she lose him for good?

My Thoughts:
Normally, I don't read a lot of teen books but every now and then I hear good things about certain ones and have to find out what all the hype is about.

After reading Manifest, I was glad that I did.  Most teen stories don't hold my interest, but this one had me interested from the very first page.

Krystal is a troubled teen that can't seem to figure out where her life got turned upside down.  She's so angry at the decisions that have been made for her, that she lashes out at anyone that comes near her.  Her father won't return her calls, her mother is living in la la land, her new stepfather can't stand her,  and the cute ghost boy won't leave her alone.

Ricky is recently deceased  but hasn't quite made it over to the other side. Krystal is his only connection to finding out what happened to him, but she's so caught up in her own nightmare to be concerned.

At several points in the story, I wanted to snatch Krystal and beat the brakes off her.  She wasn't a typical teen, she was actually a poster child for kids that need discipline.  But despite my feelings for the little brat, I came to love her and her story.

It's been awhile since I've read a good mystery and this book hit the spot.  It had so many twists and turns, you never knew what was going to come up next.  As far as suspects, no one was safe, because I found myself suspecting everybody.

When this book comes out, it will be going on my shelf, right next to all my other favorites.

My Rating
I give Manifest five stars because it was a wonderful read.  I do recommend this book to anyone that enjoys young adult and a good mystery.  I can't wait for the other books in this new series to come out.

Eve Of Samhain by Lisa Sanchez

Title:  Eve of Samhain
Author:  Lisa Sanchez
Released:
Series:  No
How I Got It:  Received ebook from publisher to review

Book Summary:
As a college senior and server at Hanaford Park's hottest nightclub, twenty-one year old Ryann Pierce's plan was simple: work hard, make lots of money, and avoid the ass-grabbers at all costs. What she never planned for was Quinn Donegan—the living, breathing advertisement for sinful behavior that waltzed into her life.
With an angelic face, a hard body and a butt-load of charm, Quinn had a way with the ladies—a lot of ladies. Cursed with a deadly, addictive touch, his trail of indiscretion blazed across five hundred years. Tired and jaded, Ryann is a shocking revelation Quinn didn't see coming.

Filled with desire, yet unable to touch one another, Ryann and Quinn embark on a daunting journey, battling frustrating physical limitations while exploring their new love. In a race against the clock, Ryann learns she must plead for Quinn's life before…the Eve of Samhain. Determined to end her lover's suffering, not even the danger dogging her every move can keep her from her mission.

My Thoughts
When I started reading Eve Of Samhain, my first thought was that it reminded me of Twilight.  Here we have a pretty young girl that catches the eye of a tortured mystical soul.  A forbidden love begins, but unlike Twilight, there are no shiny vampires and no muted language (always love that part).  No critical scenes left to the imagination, and certainly no whiny heroine that doesn't fight back.

I found myself loving Ryann.  She was a typical girl with everyday problems.  She was a  very strong character that wasn't afraid to stand up for herself. I admired that she had goals in her life and stuck with them. She also had one hell of a sense of humor and I  got a kick out of her not being able to stop using colorful names for her vajayjay.

Quinn was a bit off the charts for me.  While it was clear that he had a dominating personality, it was fun to see him portray the womanizing cad.   With a face and body like his and centuries of women falling all over him, how could he not?  His body oozed sex, but his mouth  made you wanna punch his lights out.  But as the story progressed, how could you not love him?  He became perfect boyfriend material and turned out to be a decent guy.

I loved the friendship and romance that Ryann and Quinn had.  I did have a boo hoo moment in the end because Lisa Sanchez created such a beautiful romance with these two.  I just can't resist a good HEA (happily ever after) and this book gave me exactly that!

My Rating
I give Eve Of Samhain 4.5 stars because the book was an all out good read. It was full of humor and certainly did not lack in the action department.  I finished this book in one sitting.  Yes, no breaks because I actually couldn't tear myself away from it.

I just wish the book was a bit longer and more detailed. I found myself wanting to know the story behind the evil and why Ryann was it's target.  I just know that there's an underlying story or novella lurking in that brain of yours, Ms Sanchez.  Out with it, please!  Don't leave me hanging!

And oh yeah, the Ripple comment-LOL! Funny stuff!

Shadow Of The Vampire by Meagan Hatfield

Title: Shadow Of A Vampire
Author:  Meagan Hatfield
Released: July 1, 2010
Book Series:  None
How I Got It:  Received ebook from Net Galley to review

Book Summary:
Even vampires should never sleep with the enemy.

Vampire princess Alexia Feodorovna has been undead for 125 years, so it's been a while since any man has made her pulse race. Until Declan Black. One look at his bronzed body and a fire like no other consumes her. Then she discovers that he's a dragon lord come to take revenge on the vamps who killed his parents. And claim a crystal said to imbue its owner with incredible powers.

Alexia is ordered to torture and kill the dragon lord. Yet with each reckless encounter, she finds herself consumed by his fiery passion. A passion Declan battles, as well. Will he be able to resist the fire of lust she kindles within him and keep revenge in his heart? Or will he risk everything to quench the burning desire and claim the vampire as his own?

My Thoughts
Alexia is a vampire princess getting ready to become a queen.  Her mother, the Queen, is showing signs of Alzheimer, and her evil almost stepfather is busy plotting to take over the world.  Alexia's world is about to come tumbling down if she doesn't find that sacred crystal.  And having a handsome, very naked dragon shifter in her dungeon is not helping matters at all.

Declan should be ruling his kingdom, but instead he's counting his days.  These vamps have already tortured and killed his parents so he's sure that he won't survive either.  As long as his dragon kin are safe, he has no problems with dying.  But each time that little blonde vampire comes near him, he hopes to live another day just to touch her.  Even though she appears to be as barbaric as the others, his heart yearns for her.

From the time Alexia and Declan met, I could tell that these two were destined to be together.
The heat from these two made it impossible for me to put the book down.  Shadow Of A Vampire is my kind of book because it had me up half the night trying to finish it.

My Rating
I give it five stars because it was good from start to finish.  I was completely drawn it to the book and felt the passion between the two characters leap right off my computer screen.

Beasts Behaving Badly by Shelly Laurenston

    Title:  Beasts Behaving Badly
    Author:  Shelley Laurenston
    Released:  June 1, 2010
Series:  The Pride Series, Book 5
How I Got The Book:  Purchased ebook for Nook
    Lend Me Feature:  Yes

    Book Summary:

Ten years after Blayne Thorpe first encountered Bo Novikov, she still can't get the smooth-talking shifter out of her head. Now he's shadowing her in New York-all seven-plus feet of him-determined to protect her from stalkers who want to use her in shifter dogfights. Even if he has to drag her off to an isolated Maine town where the only neighbors are other bears almost as crazy as he is...
Let sleeping dogs lie. Bo knows it's good advice, but he can't leave Blayne be. Blame it on her sweet sexiness -- or his hunch that there's more to this little wolfdog than meets the eye. Blayne has depths he hasn't yet begun to fathom -- much as he'd like to. She may insist Bo's nothing but a pain in her delectable behind, but polar bears have patience in spades. Soon she'll realize how good they can be together. And when she does, animal instinct tells him it'll be worth the wait...

    My Thoughts:
Oh what a twisted mind you have, Ms Laurenston!

In the latest shifter shenanigans, we learn more about Blayne, the hybrid BFF from Mane Squeeze.  Blayne has always been the true friend that did whatever to help a friend out, and I considered her the sane one.  But in this latest book, her whole character just got crazy like Coco Puffs.

She's still lovable, and even though she's part wolf, you'd never know.  Her dog side seems to be more dominant because I found myself wanting to whack her with a rolled up newspaper just to make her calm down.  And they wonder why dogs aren't suppose to have chocolate.

I loved Bo and his in your face attitude, but I kept picturing him as a seven foot tall Jason in a hockey mask. Scary, right?  Oddly, I still found myself really wanting him to get his  girl.

His OCD and "if it's not on my list, it doesn't exist" attitude was a bit much, but being in love with Blayne, a guy has got to have some order to stay sane.   He turned out to be a much needed calm in the Blayne storm.

This book was nonstop fun for me and I couldn't put it down.  I especially like the parts where Blayne keep getting attacked by badgers.  And who could forget Bo's face offs with Blayne's play brothers.  Funny stuff.

    My Rating:
I give Beast Behaving Badly 4.5 stars.  Never in my life will I be able to say that I bought a book by Shelly Laurenston that I didn't love.

The Vampire and the Virgin by Kerrelyn Sparks

Day Eight of Eight Days of Love At Stake

Title: The Vampire and the Virgin
    Author: Kerrelyn Sparks
    Released: March 9, 2010
Series: Love at Stake, Book 8
How I Got It:  Purchased book

    Book Summary
FBI psychologist Olivia Sotiris was looking for a cool ocean breeze, sand between her toes, and a break from her crazy, chaotic, and sometimes all-too-dangerous life. But when she escaped to the small Greek island of Patmos, all she got were meddling grandmothers trying to marry her off. Can't they see that none of the men around interests her-except Robby MacKay? Robby needs to cool off, too, since all he can think about is revenge on the Malcontent bloodsuckers who once held him captive-but then he meets Olivia, the beauty with the wild curls and a tempting smile. When a deadly criminal from a case back home tracks her down, Robby will have to save her life-along with giving her a first time she'll never forget...

    My thoughts
Kudos to Ms. Sparks for writing this story. I loved it. If I didn't have to do that annoying thing called sleep, I would have finished it in one day. This book had a little action, romance, and humor.

I was hooked after the first few pages. I have never read about a Scottish vamp before. I've always thought their accents were cute, but I get a big kick out of men wearing dresses(oh they call them kilts-yeah whatever)! Not sure why, but I still think they are sexy even if they do wear skirts and I can see their hairy legs!

I loved the romance between Olivia and Robby. It wasn't a whirlwind romance, nor was it a slow one. It was just the right pace. I thought it was sweet that they had a long distance relationship and became friends first.

I really get sick of the caveman vamps that take what they think is theirs. Why do they always think these women are their property? Bone heads! The stalker situation reminded me of the movie, Silence of the Lamb. I couldn't tell who was who and what was going on. To me, everybody was a suspect. Ms Sparks kept me confused until the very end. There were so many suspects to look at. But when the stalker was revealed, it made sense. I just didn't see it coming.

    My Rating
5 Stars I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it. Damn, I wish I could go on vacation and bring back a nice piece of ass as a souvenir!

Forbidden Nights With A Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks

Day Seven of Eight Days of Love At Stake

Title:  Forbidden Nights With A Vampire
    Author:  Kerrelyn Sparks
    Released:  April 2009
Series:  Love At Stake, Book 7
How I Got It:  Purchased ebook for Nook
    Lend Me Feature: No

    Book Summary
    Vanda Barkowski is in trouble.
As the owner of a hot nightclub, she's more unconventional than most of her fellow vampires, and if some think her a little out of control, then so be it. But after three former employees filed a complaint about her temper, Vanda is sentenced to an anger management class. Worse, Phil Jones agreed to be her sponsor. Phil, the mortal who is forbidden to her . . .
If Vanda knew who—or what—Phil really is, she'd reconsider her attraction to him, for his true nature is wilder than anything she'd ever imagined. He has tackled the beast within and now is the perfect person to help Vanda with her rage . . . if only he can keep his cool when she makes him so undeniably hot. But with rogue vamps on the loose, will they ever have their forbidden nights?

    My Thoughts
At first, this book was a little hard for me to read because I have never liked Vanda.  I've always thought that she was way over the top.  I especially didn't like her with Phil.

Phil is a Were shifter and has  been with working security with McKay Security since he was eighteen.  His job has involved protecting Roman Draganesti and others that anyone involved with Draganesti.  Since Vanda is one of Roman's ex harem girls, Phil was had constant contact with her.  And Vanda being herself, never made it easy for him.

Vanda made it her mission to shamelessly flirt and torture the guy knowing that neither could ever act without Phil losing his job.  At that time, Phil had been shunned by his pack and the vamps had taken him in and molded him into the man he is today.  He was duty bound to the vamps and would never betray them.

Phil now an adult, and quite the resident hottie, feels that he can handle the feisty vamp that no one seems to want to bother with.  Even though he has been given specific orders to never mix business with pleasure, he throws caution to the wind and decides to take what he has already claimed in his heart.

Phil has always kept his dual nature a secret, but anyone that really knows him, knows what lurks behind that handsome profile.  And if Vanda had bothered to really get to know him, she would have already figured that out. But who knew that under all that big and bad, Vanda was terrified of wolves?

    My Rating
I still give it four stars.  After tuning out the angry girl shenanigans, I did enjoy the book.  I was impressed that Phil had so much going on for himself but didn't need to flaunt it.  It was good to read a story about that didn't have a woo is me story about why the character could never find love.  Here's a clue fang boy:  you're dead, you drink blood, and you're cold, son.  Warm Were bodies are so much better.

Secret Life Of A Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks

Day 6 of Eight Days Of Love At Stake Author Spotlight

Title:  Secret Life Of A Vampire
    Author:  Kerrelyn Sparks
    Released:  March 2009
Series:  Love At Stake, Book 6
How I Got It:  Purchased it for my NOOK
    Lend Me Feature:  NO

    Book Summary
Nothing's sexier than an man who can keep a secret.
A typical bachelor party is all about beers and beautiful women. A vampire bachelor party is no different — except the men are drinking Blissky (whiskey-flavored synthetic blood). And no one can throw a party quite like Jack, the illegitimate son of the legendary Casanova. But when the party gets out of hand and the cops show up, Jack has some explaining to do . . . if only he wasn't struck speechless by the beauty of Officer Lara Boucher.
Lara is sure there's something more than a bachelor party going on. What is Jack hiding? And why is he so interested in the recent disappearance of young women all over town? Her investigation uncovers more than she wants to know, especially about this modern-day Casanova. But if she's ever to make detective, she'll need to expose all his secrets . . . if only her heart wasn't on the line.

    My Thoughts
I circled this book so many times at Barnes and Noble, but never bought it.  I'm kinda mad at myself for not picking it up sooner.  This is the sixth book in the super funny Love At Stake Series.

I loved the story because it kept me laughing.  Jack is a fun character. He's been in past books, but nothing has really been mentioned about him except that women love him.   Even though he's the son of the legendary Casanova, and women fall at his feet, he has trouble keeping the attention of the one he really wants.  Of all the women in the world, he falls for one of NYPD's finest, a wanna be detective that is convinced that he's an alien from another planet.

Lara is a former beauty queen turned police officer after a near death experience.  She has decided to make a difference in the world by catching all the bad guys.  Little does she know, she's about to meet the ultimate bad guy. Bad boy of love, that is.

While Jack is throwing his friend, Ian, a bachelor party, things get seriously out of hand, and police are called to the scene. Lara is the would be arresting officer, if only it could have been that simple.

Jack is immediately drawn to Lara, but realizes that he can't control her mind.  At first it doesn't matter, because no one will ever believe her, but when Lara manages to track him down, Jack realizes that he has a serious problem.

Not only can he not manipulate her mind, but he finds that he doesn't want to.  After years of persuading women to do whatever he wanted, Lara's immunity to his powers is exciting.  He realizes that she likes him naturally and he wants to earn her love.

He plans to be as sweet and romantic as he knows how, but when she keeps pressing him to trust her with his secrets, it quickly creates a dangerous glitch in Jack's master plan.

I found myself not liking Lara or her friend Latoya.  I hate nosy chicks that can't seem to follow directions.  If someone tells you a situation is dangerous, can't you just go with that.  Curiously can leave your seriously dead.  I'm guessing they were rookie cops, because they were very lame at their jobs.

    My Rating
I give Secret Life Of A Vampire four stars.  It was funny and very entertaining.  It's a nice change to read about vampire that live normal lives-minus the blood drinking.

The only problem that I have, and i realize that I've had this same problem for a minute.  Please somebody just go ahead and stake Phineas!  I can't take another reference to the po po, or Dr. Phang, the love doctor.  Ms. Sparks, you are killing me with the slang.  I am seriously starting to get offended here.  I know it's meant to be funny, but it's  starting to become very annoying. Just teleport his ass into the sun and be done!

Here are a few blogs that I've visited:

The Twilight Saga-Rob and Kristin talk about Breaking Dawn

What is really going on with these two? Do they get drunk or something before they do interviews? Of course, Robert is always a fun guy because you never know what he'll say or do. He seems to be more comfortable with doing interviews now, but little Kristen is just as awkward and embarrassed as ever. Why is she suddenly so uncomfortable about talking about this particular scene? God knows we are waiting for this little scenario to play out. Just hope Rob gets to the gym with Taylor and adds an extra two to his four pack. Yeah, that'll make a terrific scene. And we will totally forget that blushing Bella is still in the room!

All I Want For Christmas Is A Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks

Day Five of Eight Days of Love At Stake

Title:  All I Want For Christmas Is A Vampire
        Author:  Kerrelyn Sparks
        Released:  October 2008
Series:  Love At Stake, Book 5
How I Got It:  Purchased ebook for NOOK
        Lend Me Feature:  NO

        Book Summary
        Toni Davis’s Christmas Wish List
        1. Springing my best friend from the psych ward.
        2. Living somewhere that doesn’t have coffins in the basement. Occupied coffins.
        3. Finding Mr. Right. Please make him tall, dark, handsome, and ALIVE.
This Christmas isn’t so merry for Toni. Her best friend’s been locked up in a mental hospital ever since she told the police she was attacked by vampires, and the only way for Toni to get her out is to prove that bloodsuckers really do exist. So she’s taken a job as a bodyguard for the Undead, but she gets more than she's bargained for, especially when she meets Ian MacPhie, a Scottish rascal looking for Ms. Right.
Although Ian’s nearly five centuries old, he looks and acts like a twenty-seven-year-old hunk. How can a dead man be so damn sexy?  Could Mr. Wrong be Mr. Right?  One forbidden kiss could lead to an eternity of passion—and all it takes is one moment under the mistletoe . . .

        My Thoughts
Okay, this book was good and disturbing in so many ways.  First let me explain the hot mess that is Ian's life, and then I'll get to Toni's.
Ian is the too cute, century old vamp that's stuck in a fifteen year old body.  Sure he's deadly, but all the ladies think he's a little too young below the belly button to get freaky with him.  It's a hard knock life for a vamp trying to get laid.
So, when Ian has the opportunity of the lifetime, thanks to  Roman Draganesti, he goes for it.  The secret and still experimental stay away drug is just what Ian needs.  Although the drug is painful to use, with each use it ages a vamp a year.  And right now, years are exactly what Ian wants.
He's gotten to the point in his life where he just wants to settle down and have his own Ms. Right.  All the other vamps around him are in love and he just wants the chance to have someone love him.
So, his friend Vanda, one of Roman's ex harem girl agrees to help him out.  Anyone who knows Vanda, knows that her help is not always the help one needs.
Instead of fixing him up on a date or two, she creates Ian an online persona on a local dating site that has human and vamp women stalking him and demanding a chance to be his one true love.
For awhile, Ian enjoys the attention, but when his attention focuses on Toni, a female co worker that won't give him the time of day, all sorts of fun begins.
Toni's attracted to Ian, but...he's a vampire.  She only agreed to guard them so she could prove that her friend is not crazy, but Ian is totally hot...and arrogant.  And what's with him and the fan club?
        My Rating
I give this book four stars because it was a great read.  Toni and Ian were so cute together.  It was about time for Ian to have a happy ending.
I was also glad to finally see the vamp war amped up.  I love the way Kerrelyn Sparks tells her stories.  A little bit of love, some crazy friends, and a whole lotta disasters.

The Undead Next Door by Kerrelyn Sparks

        Title:  The Undead Next Door
        Author:  Kerrelyn Sparks
        Released:  January 2008
Series:  Love At Stake, Book 4
How I Got It:  Purchased ebook for NOOK
        LendMe Feature:  No

        Book Summary:
Three signs that something is very different with your new man:
        1. He sleeps all day . . . which would be annoying except he's so attentive at night.
        2. He's attacked by sword-wielding assailants, yet insists he can handle it on his own.
        3. He never seems to age.
Heather Westfield has always lived a quiet life, but that all changes when she helps a very handsome, very mysterious stranger. There's something not quite right about Jean-Luc, but still, she's never been with a man so charming, so attractive . . . so wonderful. Now if only a murderous villain wasn't after them, they might get their happily-ever-after.

        My Thoughts:
My first thought was...daaaaaamn this cover guy is hawt!  Come stay next door to me!

I'm still not sure why I have been missing out on this series.  So far, I have read three books from the series and have not been disappointed.  I love these flirtatious, but deadly vamps.

Jean Luc (swoon) is the latest vamp in the Love At Stake to find his bride to be. Now I immediately had a problem with him back in book three.  First of all, he's a fashion designer...what?  What kind of vamp can skewer his opponent with his mighty sword, and design the latest fashions in his spare time?  Gay much?

Anyway, Jean Luc turned out to be a real sweetie.  He sees Heather stealing his designs, or so he thinks, and demands to know who she's working for.  In the process of interrogating her, he manages to flirt with no shame.

In order to pursue her, he offers her a designing job.  It is considered an honor to work with the famed designer since no one has ever personally met him.

Being a few hundred years old, sometimes these vamps need to lay low and come back as a grandson or great grandson so the public won't figure out that they never age. But, if laying low means missing the opportunity to to court (yeah, these old people say court) Heather, Jean Lu is totally against it...until being near him puts her on the top of his worst enemies' hit list.

Now Heather and her family have been thrust into the position of knowing a little too much about the vampire world to be allowed to leave it.  The only option is to give herself to the charms of the handsome, Jean Luc. And Jean Luc wouldn't have it any other way.

        My Rating:
I had so much fun reading the latest in the series.  I give it a 4.5.  The only problem I had was how Heather's weight kept coming up.  So what if a girl is curvy.  Her model friend kept trying to make her feel bad about herself.  If anything, that racehorse really needed to eat something and put some pounds on her little ass.  Being thin as wind is soo not sexy!

Be Still My Vampire Heart by Kerrelyn Sparks

Day Three of Eight Days Of Love At Stake

Title:  Be Still My Vampire Heart
        Author:  Kerrelyn Sparks
        Released:  April 2007
Series:  Love At Stake, Book 3
How I Got It:  Purchased ebook for NOOK
        Lend Me Feature:  No

        Book Summary:
If it was still beating. Angus MacKay has been undead for almost five hundred years and it's not often something, or someone, surprises him. Until Emma Wallace. The sight of this luscious agent from the CIA's elite Stake-Out team was enough to stop Angus in his tracks. But then he discovers that she's a vampire slayer, intent on killing the "monsters" who killed her parents. And it's Angus's job to stop her.
The only good vampire is a dead vampire. It's been Emma's motto since she committed her life to the destruction of these things. Now Angus MacKay wants to convince her differently.
Sure, he's a sexy Highland warrior who seems to have stepped off the cover of a romance novel, complete with brogue, kilt, and sword, but he's also one of them. And it's her job to kill him.
The war is on, but will it end in the destruction of one or both of them . . . or in total surrender to a passion for the ages?

        My Thoughts

I truly get tired of the heroines that think they can take on the world alone.  And they have the nerve to get mad when they are labeled as a damsel in distress.  Please get over yourselves because their are a host of other labels that would fit.  Can we say stupid...

When will we puny humans learn that we are no match for vamps.  They are so much stronger, faster, and can make us do whatever they feel like, just to amuse themselves.  Then, they fall in love with us...or they kill us.

I vote for the first one.  If we were all smart, we'd just make friends with all the  good vamps and have a little sex on the side.  No killing please.

Anyhoo, this book centers around Emma, another member of the infamous Stake Out Team.  She thinks she's Buffy the Vampire Slayer simply because her parents were killed by vampires.  Okay, I can get with that, but when she goes out on her own trying to avenge someone who is already dead by getting herself killed...problem.

As always, there are better ways to handle all things.  Like I said, be friends with the good vamps.   Especially when a good, hawt vamp in a skirt, sorry kilt is trying to protect you.

Angus is one of the good vamps, and while the good vamps are on the verge of going to war with the Malcontents, the bad vamps, he still finds time to protect Emma.

Of course Emma is not having that, but in the end, she'll sue for the love of Angus.  Yes, sue, she subpoenas him and everything.  You will die laughing when you read why.

        My Rating
Have I told you how much I love these books?  Kerrelyn Sparks outdoes herself each time.  She writes the craziest romances ever!  In this one, she kicked the fun up a notch, so I'll give it four stars.

Vamps And The City by Kerrelyn Sparks

Day Two of Eight Days Of Love At Stake

        Title:  Vamps In The City
        Author:  Kerrelyn Sparks
        Released:  May 2006
Series:  Lover At Stake, Book 2
How I Got It:  Purchased ebook for NOOK
        Lend Me Feature:  No

        Book Summary
Who says a vamp can't have it all?

Darcy Newhart thought it was a stroke of genius – the first–ever reality TV show where mortals vie with vampires for the title of The Sexiest Man on Earth. As the show's director, Darcy's career would be on track again. And she can finally have a life apart from the vampire harem. Okay, so she's still technically dead, but two out of three's not bad. Now she just has to make sure that a mortal doesn't win. If only she wasn't so distracted by a super–sexy and live contestant named Austin...

But Darcy doesn't know the worst of it. Austin Erickson is actually a vampire slayer! And he's got his eye on the show's leggy blond director. Only problem is, he's never wanted any woman – living or dead – as badly. But if he wins her heart, will he lose his soul? And if it means an eternity of hot, passionate loving with Darcy, does that really matter anyway?

        My Thoughts
In the second book in the Love At Stake series, we catch up with Roman's ex harem.  By the title of the book, we know the vamps are about to go Hollywood.  At first, the way they did it, I thought was super cheesy.  But of course you know these vamps are always cheesy, but funny.

Since Roman is a married man, and Shanna is not into the orgy thing, the harem had to  go.

Trouble is most of these ladies were turned so long ago, they don't know what life outside of the mansion is like. They are so used to being mistresses, that they can't function without a master.

So, being the loyal friend that Gregori is, he offers to be their captain save a hoe, I mean friend, and take the gold diggers in for a spell.  Little does he know that these heifers were going to take over his house and make him feel like a house guest.

Darcy, on the other hand, isn't the typical harem girl.  She hasn't been a vamp long and has never forgotten how she got her fangs.  I thought it was really odd to see her trying to shun her vampireness to hang on to her human habits.  For awhile, I found myself questioning if she were still human or not.

I was so curious to find out why Darcy was being such a vamp snob.  When I found out her story, I didn't love her , but I started to like her, a little .

Anyhoo, Kerrelyn Sparks created diva monsters when she decided to put them on a VH1 type reality show to help the girls find a new master.  Now at this point, I'm thinking a Sex In The City type of show, but it turned out to be more of The Bachelorette type of show.  But in any reality TV show, there's always a train wreck. Of all the other girls, Darcy turned out to be the biggest train wreck thinking she could help the other girls, but didn't have the guts to get her shit straight.

In the quest to crown The Sexiest Man On Earth, the ladies actually started to get a little sense and realized that they didn't need a master after all, but the money the winner received would come in quite handy.  What did Kanye say?  "I ain't saying she a gold digger, but she ain't messin' with no broke..."

Now the show is suppose to be for vamps only, but to make it a true hit, Darcy manages to add two human males to the mix.  Of course the two she selects are the worst ever.

Not that the guys were  paper bag moments, they were actually the most handsome of the bunch.  They just happened to be part of The Stake Out Team, the psychic CIA team that Shanna's crazy father heads.  And keeping with the crazy, these two were suppose to play Romeo long enough to find out where Shanna is being held prisoner so the team can continue with their retarded operation of staking all vampires.

Austin couldn't believe that he would have to put up with this. Out of all  the Stake Out Members, Austin's psychic ability is the highest, meaning he can resist all vampire threats to control his mind.  Instead of parading around like vampire chow, he feels that his talents can be better used doing anything else.  But the boss seriously disagrees. When being around Darcy comes with the job, he's suddenly eager to do his job.

Of all the idiots on the team, Austin appears to be the only one with a brain. After interacting with all the vamps on the show, Austin is more than convinced that Shanna has been right all along.  The concept of good and evil vampires is starting to sound about right, especially when he's fallen head over heels for Darcy.

And what is a reality show without drama?  The shit hits the fan when Darcy discovers who and what Austin really is.  To show Darcy that he truly loves her, Austin tries his best to get thrown out of the competition.  Image his surprise when he actually wins-the money and the harem!

        My Rating
This book wasn't as good as the first book, but it was still a good read.  I give it 3.5 stars.  The reality show was crazy.  The harem girls were divas to their hearts and dumber than a bag of rocks. On with the girl power!

How To Marry A Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks

Day One of Eight Days Of Love At Stake

Title:  How To Marry A Millionaire Vampire
        Author:  Kerrelyn Sparks
        Released:  July 2005
Series:  Love At Stake, Book 1
How I Got It:  Purchased it for NOOK
        Lend Me Feature:  NO

        Book Summary
So what if he's a bit older and usually regards a human female as dinner, not a dinner date? Yes, Roman Draganesti is a vampire, but a vampire who lost one of his fangs sinking his teeth into something he shouldn't have. Now he has one night to find a dentist before his natural healing abilities close the wound, leaving him a lop–sided eater for all eternity.
Things aren't going well for Shanna Whelan either...After witnessing a gruesome murder by the Russian mafia, she's next on their hit list. And her career as a dentist appears to be on a downward spiral because she's afraid of blood. When Roman rescues her from an assassination attempt, she wonders if she's found the one man who can keep her alive. Though the attraction between them is immediate and hot, can Shanna conquer her fear of blood to fix Roman's fang? And if she does, what will prevent Roman from using his fangs on her...

        My Thoughts
This book had me cracking up nonstop.  How is it that vampires do the same dumb stuff that humans do?

Roman Dragonesti is a brilliant scientist, a powerful millionaire, and a vampire coven master.  He's got money, friends, and a harem.  Yep, he's got a vampire harem of women that would love to rock his world.  Despite that, he longs to have one woman that could truly love him.

Shanna Whelan is a dentist that is in danger of losing her practice as well as her life.  She's in the Witness Protection Program because she witnessed her friend's murder and the Mob has put a hit out on her.  On top of that, she can't function as a dentist because the site of blood brings back too many painful memories.

Here's where all the fun begins.

Like I said, Roman is a brilliant scientist because he has discovered a way to make synthetic blood.  This invention is wildly popular with most good vamps because it encourages them not to bite humans.

There are still vamps that prefer the thrill of biting and taking blood straight from the source, so Roman's assistant Laszlo has come up with a new idea.  They have invented a sex toy called VANNA (Vampire Artificial Nutritional Needs Appliance) that you can screw and bite.

Yes, a VANNA is just like the Kimber doll from the FX series Nip/Tuck.  LOL!  Ok, maybe I got carried away with that, but you get the gist.

VANNAS aren't just vamp sex toys,  they come equipped with veins that you can fill with blood so if the need to bite ever strikes, you don't risk biting a human.

The idea was great but the trial test was a disaster. Since Roman is the HVIC (head vamp in charge), he gets the first go at the VANNA.  Well Roman enjoys biting the doll, but recoils when he realizes that he has lost one of  his fangs!

Now imagine a one fanged vamp and I dare you not to laugh.  The whole scenario was  funny as hell.  Despite his anger and utter embarrassment, Roman seeks out an all night dentist to repair his fang.  If he doesn't get it repaired before the sun rises, he'll forever be the butt of all vamp jokes because after tonight, it can never be replaced.

Since they don't have vamp dentists, they seek a human dentist that is open at night.  They locate Shanna's office, unaware that the Mob has also found her and are on their way to kill her.  Being the good guy that Roman is, he helps her escape in exchange for getting his winning smile back.

In the process of hiding Shanna and helping her get over her fear of blood, Roman begins to fall in love with her.  The odds are stacked against them though.  Shanna turns out to be the daughter of a CIA agent that has put together a team of psychics that can resist vampire mind control whose sole mission is to rid the world of blood sucking vampires.

        My Rating
I give this book five stars.  I loved the romance between Roman and Shanna.  Normally I hate heroines that have too much of the goodie too shoes qualities, but Shanna was very likable.   I also love the world that Ms. Sparks has created.   Vamps that have regular lives and jobs.  They love, they live, and they suck...sometimes.

The Mane Squeeze by Shelly Laurenston

        Title:  The Mane Squeeze
        Author:  Shelly Laurenston
        Released:  October 27, 2009
        Series:  Pride Stories, Book 4
How I Got It:  Purchased ebook for NOOK
        Lend Me Feature:  Yes

        Book Summary:
Growing up on the tough Philly streets, Gwen O'Neill has learned how to fend for herself. But what is she supposed to do with a nice, suburban Jersey boy in the form of a massive Grizzly shifter? Especially one with a rather unhealthy fetish for honey, moose, and…uh…well, her. Yet despite his menacing ursine growl and four-inch claws, Gwen finds Lachlan "Lock" MacRyrie cute and really sweet. He actually watches out for her, protects her, and unlike the rest of her out-of-control family manages not to morbidly embarrass her. Too bad cats don't believe in forever.
At nearly seven feet tall, Lock is used to people responding to him in two ways: screaming and running away. Gwen-half lioness, half tigress, all kick-ass-does neither. She's sexy beyond belief and smart as hell, but she's a born protector. Watching out for the family and friends closest to her but missing the fact that she's being stalked by a murderous enemy who doesn't like hybrids…and absolutely hates Gwen. Lock probably shouldn't get involved, but he will. Why? Because this is Gwen-and no matter what the hissing, roaring, drape destroying feline says about not being ready to settle down, Lock knows he can't simply walk away. Not when she's come to mean absolutely everything to him.

        My Thoughts
OMG!!!  Shelly Laurenson's books never fail to make me laugh until I cry.  I've had this book since it first came out, but just got around to reading it.  Yay, I am quite crazy for waiting because it was so great.  I had it before I even got my Nookie!

Lock was such as sweetie.  Even though he terrified everyone else, he was always sweet and lovable to Gwen.  And god knows she needed that having to deal with her crazy ass mother, Roxy and her self centered idiot brothers, Mitch and Bren.

I liked Lock's total package.  Even though he is considered an Alpha male, he wasn't all hung up on controlling every situation.  He was so laid back.  Some may think he was a wuss because he let Gwen boss him around half the time, but in the end, Lock always got Gwen to give in so he'd always get exactly what he wanted.

Gwen was a lovable heroine.  She was kinda out there in the beginning, but I quickly realized that she had to be tough considering where and who she came from.  The romance between her and Lock was so on point.  It was very believable and not forced.

Now Brendon and Mitch, man those two were a bunch of pussies, like always.  They bitch and moan about every single thing.  And who were they to think that could keep Lock from Gwen?  The way Lock kept tossing them around like chew toy ways so hilarious.  And then these suppose to be King Of The Jungle pussies, all up in his face like they were going to kick his ass.  Priceless!

And we can't forget those Smith hillbillies.  Beside the O'Neil Pride, the Smith Pack are THE funniest shifter family.  I especially liked Smitty's wilddog wife, Jess.  Such a crybaby, but a total BITCH when she wanted something, and got down and dirty just to get what she wanted.

Gwen's friend, Blayne was also a favorite for me.  At first, I thought she was just one of those ride or die friends with no backbone.  But she provided to be quite a lethal chick that only wanted to see her BFF happy.

        My Rating
I give this book 5 stars because it was entertaining from start to finish.  You never know what's going to come out of the character's mouths, nor do you know what retarded shenanigans they would get into.

The only thing I didn't like about this books was the cover...WTF?  Lock is suppose to be young and handsome, so maybe I need my eyes checked.  No, I'm pretty sure that this model is neither.  I've seen this guy on several book covers, and he's really not much to look at.  Give us a full fledged hottie to look at, please!!!!  It's essential our book enjoyment.

As I hop, I'll make a list of the new sites, I've visited so anyone that visits me can be sure to visit also.  Don't forget to leave me a comment to let me know you've been by.

Also, don't forget to enter my first ever contest.  Win a paperback copy of The Vampire and the Virgin.

        My Very First Contest!!!

Starting Sunday,  I will be doing a review fest featuring Kerrelyn Sparks called Eight Days of Love At Stake.  I will be doing an eight day review of all the books in the series.

I absolutely loved reading this series, and couldn't wait to get to the next book.

And to show love to all of my followers, I have decided to offer my paperback copy of her latest, The Vampire and the the Virgin.

This is my very first contest.  It's been a long time coming, but it's finally here.  The contest will start today and end on June 25 at 8pm central.

The winner will be announced on my blog on June 26.   I will contact the winner and they will have 48 hours to contact me to claim their prize.  After this time has expired, I will randomly select another winner.

This contest is only open to US residents.

        Confessions of a book whore

        Step One:  Admit it.
I just can't help myself.  I am a book whore!  I just bought two new books today and added them to my TBR list.

I know I said that I wouldn't purchase another book until I finished all the books on my To Be Read list, but....

Step Two:  Take control of the Situation
Okay, I'm locking my debit card up.  No more books.  I really do mean it this time.

        To Be Read Tuesdays

I am so embarrassed!  I am so obsessed with getting more books when I already have a ton of books that need to be read.  So, to keep focused, below is  a list of books and ebooks that I have been meaning to read.  They are not in any particular order because I read whatever whenever.  I just like to pick one up and go.

Each Tuesday, I will repost the list and cross out what I have read.  My goal is to read everything I have before buying something new.  Yeah, I hope I can stick to that.
